The newly appointed Mayors who will serve as Abia State ALGON (Association of Local Government of Nigeria) Officials have been inaugurated.

During the inauguration ceremony, Prince Uzor Nwachukwu, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, extended his congratulations to the Mayors for their well-deserved appointments as ALGON leaders in the state. He encouraged them to leverage their wealth of experience to elevate ALGON to new heights.

Expressing gratitude, Hon Nwachukwu commended Governor Dr. Alex Otti (OFR) for his genuine concern for the welfare of Local Government Areas in the state, which led to the approval of the Mayors' appointments. He prayed for wisdom and direction for the officials throughout their tenure.

Responding on behalf of the Mayors, Dr. Elelenta Nwambuisi Elele, Chairman and Mayor of Isialangwa South LGA, thanked Governor Alex Otti for deeming them suitable for ALGON leadership roles. He assured the governor that they would strive to rectify issues within the Local Government System.

Dr. Elelenta also took the opportunity to seek support from all stakeholders, emphasizing the collective effort required to implement positive changes in the local government system.

In her vote of thanks, Dr. Florence Chidinma Nwogu, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, congratulated the officials and expressed gratitude to Governor Otti and the Commissioner, Prince Uzor Nwachukwu for their dedicated efforts in revitalizing the Local Government System. She invoked divine guidance for the officials in fulfilling the administration's vision for local government areas.

The highpoint of the occasion was the formal presentation of Letters of Appointment to the officials, including Dr. Elelenta Nwambuisi Elele as Chairman, Dr. Eric Egwuibe as Secretary, and Chief Joe Ezearu as Treasurer, conducted by the Honorable Commissioner.

The event was attended by Mr. Ben Ononogbu, the Director of the Local Government Department.
