DR. ALEX OTTI'S INTERVENTION AND REFORM OF THE FIRE SERVICE IS BEGINNING TO BEAR FRUIT.

Recall that the Governor of Abia State invited and received the Assistant Controller General of The Federal Fire Service in his office a few weeks ago to discuss how Abia State will collaborate with the Federal Fire Service to establish a more formidable Fire Emergency Response in Abia State. Just last week, the Governor went a step further by dispatching His aides Mr Chukwunenye Nwaogu Alajemba S.S.A. Homeland Security, Fire and Emergency Services and Mr Ugochukwu Okoroafor S.A. Monitoring and Evaluation to Abuja to meet with the Controller General of The Federal Fire Service to continue discussions on that collaborative agenda.

According to reports, a gas explosion occurred yesterday morning around 7.30 a.m. at the Chikof Petrol Station in Umuikaa, Abia State, and the swift response of the Abia State Fire Service from Aba was spectacular. The coordination and response of the Fire Service, led by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Homeland Security, Fire And Emergency Services Mr Chukwunenye Alajemba pictured, was encouraging. Residents of Umuikaa were relieved that the Governor's aide arrived on the scene soon after the fire was reported to help coordinate the response. They claimed that if the Aba Fire Service had not come quickly enough, more damage would have been done. They thanked the Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, for appreciating the importance of the fire service and encouraged him to continue with the reforms being implemented in the Abia State Fire Service and other emergency services in the state.
