In a significant breakthrough, the Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, announced the arrest of the kidnappers responsible for the abduction of Prof. Godwin Emezue, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) of Abia State University, Uturu. This announcement came during Dr. Otti's monthly media briefing held at the Government House in Umuahia, underscoring a major victory for law enforcement in the region.

The operation leading to the arrests was detailed by Governor Otti, who revealed that the apprehension of these criminals was far-reaching, extending beyond the state's borders. The leader of the kidnapping gang was caught in a dramatic turn of events at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, in the very act of attempting to flee the country to Turkey. A similar stroke of strategic law enforcement efficiency led to the capture of the gang's second in command in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The swift and coordinated actions ensured that both individuals were transported back to Abia State, where they are to face legal proceedings for their crimes.

The successful operation was attributed to "Operation Crush," a pioneering security initiative launched by Governor Otti's administration.
