DR. UMA ELEAZU, HAS CALLED FOR 'STRATEGIC AUTONOMY' FOR THE SOUTH EAST REGION OF NIGERIA AND EXPRESSED

Elder statesman, Dr. Uma Eleazu, has called for 'strategic autonomy' for the South East region of Nigeria and expressed confidence in the success of Governor Alex Otti.

During a visit to Governor Otti's country home in Nvosi, Isialangwa South, Dr. Eleazu congratulated the Governor on assuming office, despite being unable to attend the inauguration due to health reasons.

Dr. Eleazu, who has a wealth of experience as a private sector development advisor and has worked across various African countries, held discussions with Governor Otti on the development and strategy for the entire South East region.

Dr. Eleazu emphasized the concept of 'strategic autonomy', which involves empowering the Igbo people in the South East to control the Nigerian economy from within, rather than seeking secession.

Moreover, he called for the South East Governors to collaborate in creating an enabling environment for this vision to be realized. Dr. Eleazu expressed confidence in Governor Otti's ability to succeed based on his background as a former bank CEO and economist, stating that the people of Abia State greatly need his leadership.

Governor Otti previously praised Dr. Eleazu in his column 'Outside the Box', recognizing him as an esteemed figure and commending his practice of what he preaches. The Governor expressed gratitude to Dr. Eleazu for the visit and offered prayers for his continued good health and strength.
