BREAKING NEWS: ABUJA COURT INVALIDATES PDP GOVERNORSHIP PRIMARY ELECTION

Federal High Court Abuja Nullifies Pdp Governorship Primary Election in Edo State

Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election that produced Asue Ighodalo as its governorship candidate invalid.

The primary election, conducted on February 22, 2024, was annulled due to the unlawful exclusion of 378 delegates who were supposed to vote.

The ruling came after a lawsuit was filed by Kelvin Mohammed on behalf of the aggrieved delegates. Justice Ekwo found that both the Electoral Act 2022 and the PDP Guidelines were violated during the primary election at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.

This decision comes as the governorship election, slated for September 21, 2024, approaches, adding uncertainty to the PDP's preparation and strategy for the upcoming election.
